#FOODIEFRIDAYS: Maizaru Sushi @ Irvine
Welcome to #FOODIEFRIDAYS, the second or third Friday of the month where we’ll share our new tasty tries from all our Cali local shop shenanigans. Allow me to be your Luv-Muva (or Self Love Godmother) + show you some of this Friday’s specials:
For our first side, we have Maizaru Sushi, a local Japanese food restaurant down in Irvine, CA. My dad took my sister + I for a mini family date a few years back; it’s a gem he used to eat lunch + get together with his co-workers before the pandemic. We went pretty late so it wasn’t super crowded, just a few tables here and there, but I can only imagine how the place is during prime hours, probably a f*ckin vibe.
I gotta shoutout the staff (heyyy Maizaru staff!) cause the waiters were super friendly + attentive. I never spent too much time through the night without a filled drink + I appreciate that kind of service, mostly because working customer service on the side myself, I know how the struggles can be. So hell yeah, cheers for making our night.
Down to the nitty gritty: The sushi is BOMB AF. I wish I had a more elaborate way to say it but nah. The rolls are practically double the size of what I usually get at my other familiar sushi stops + all the seafood they used tasted hella fresh, cooked to perfection.
I got the Maizaru roll + the Alaska roll, y’know….just in case y’all wanna know what I happened to be chowin’ down on.
The onlyyyy thing I would’ve down differently about the night was sit outside. It was around sunset and it seemed a little more social, but that’s just me. I enjoy that feel good movie kind of vibe. But I got to leave with the leftovers ayyyy, shout out to the sushi spirits for that one.
If you’re ever Irvine from out of town + need some ideas, please stop by + give ‘em some love; with the kind of service they have, they’ll definitely give it right back.
